Synopsis
Growing up in small town Wisconsin, Carly Turner couldn't wait to escape when she graduated high school. Now, she's living the life in New York City, even if she isn't seeing her name in lights like she used to dream about at night. She's living paycheck-to-paycheck, working behind the scenes in small theaters off Broadway. When there's an equipment malfunction the week before opening night, Carly makes a call that winds up changing everything.
Life in the city isn't all it's cracked up to be. While she feels like she's getting closer to making the move from behind the scenes to center stage, she misses being surrounded by people who understand the quirks that come from living in a town of five thousand people. That, and the fact that he's sexy as sin, make Adam everything she feels like she's missing.

My Thoughts
The second book in the Back To Brooklyn series is the story of Adam and Carly.
Adam Sanders is Julia's (from Bent) younger brother. He is employed with a stage lighting company and often has to travel for work. He is lonely, but feels that he is ready to settle down if he can find that "special someone".
Carly Turner is one of Julia's best friends from childhood. She left Brooklyn, Wisconsin, after high school and is now living it up in New York City. Working behind the scenes in small theaters, she has to call a technician after a lighting malfunction. Who should arrive to fix the stage lights? Adam!
Having only seen each other occasionally over the years, Adam and Carly organise to have dinner and catch up. They both notice that a spark is there between them.
And so, Breaking the Rules follows Adam and Carly's relationship as it progresses and the hurdles they encounter along the way.
I really enjoyed reading Adam and Carly's story! It was great learning how their relationship formed and developed from their points of view. I also enjoyed reading the parts that involved Julia and Micha from Adam and Carly's points of view as well.
H.B. Heinzer writes in a way that makes point of view changeovers flawless. I connected to Adam and Carly's characters and I felt their emotions with them.
