REVIEW: Unexpected Angel (Isthmus Alliance #1) by Sloan Johnson

Synopsis

Tasha Skinner finally shed the baggage of a failed marriage. Now, she’s looking forward to a night of margaritas and man-bashing. Tasha’s friends have other plans, including Leather, Lace and liberation.

Dylan Caprese didn’t want to go to Marquee, but he and his friends were on a mission. They took it upon themselves to make sure things didn’t get out of hand when wannabe Doms mixed alcohol with playtime at the monthly Leather and Lace night.

From the moment he set eyes on Tasha, he knew there was something different about her. She wasn’t some bondage babe who thought she knew what it meant to be into BDSM. She was much, much worse; she was innocent and trusting. He can tell she is something precious.

When Tasha’s past threatens to destroy her, Dylan begins to realize that while their paths have never crossed, their lives most definitely have. Will he be able to save her before it’s too late?

My Thoughts

I am totally in love with Dylan Caprese! Who wouldn't be after reading this? He's thoughtful, kind and caring. And tattooed, with washboard abs, and downright sexy!

Unexpected Angel wasn't exactly what I was expecting, but I was pleasantly surprised. I assumed it would be "hardcore" with the BDSM, being more "erotic". It had a fantastic "romance" feel to it the whole way through.

The story focuses on Tasha Skinner and Dylan Caprese. They met at club one night, and Dylan took an instant liking to her. He knew she didn't belong at "Leather and Lace" night, and decided to get her out of there and meet up with his friends.

Tasha was out that night with her friends celebrating her divorce. She was uneasy from the beginning of the night being made to dress in "underwear". Although the club wasn't her scene, she was curious about what went on there, and shocked at finding out that her friends were into BDSM.

There was instant chemistry between Tasha and Dylan, which brought them both out of their comfort zones. Tasha became open minded to being given orders, and Dylan finally allowed somebody into his private world.

The supporting characters where extremely lovable throughout the story, and each played a vital role without being overpowering.

I was blown away by Sloan Johnson's writing. It dragged my completely into the book from the first page and held me there the whole way through. The characters were realistic and extremely lovable, and the story was fantastic!

I can't wait to see where the next installment in the Isthmus Alliance Series takes me!
