REVIEW: Temporary Bliss (Bliss #1) by B.J. Harvey

Synopsis

Makenna Lewis cringes at any mention of the word commitment. She doesn’t want or need a relationship, but she does like sex (who doesn't).

That explains Noah, Sean, and Zander, her three 'friends with benefits'.

They know the score, they know they're not the only one, and each of them provide her with a different physical need that she craves and enjoys.

Until a late night encounter with the delicious Daniel Winters turns her preconceived notion of no-commitment completely on its head.

Soon she finds herself feeling things she vowed never to feel again, and when Daniel pushes for more than she’s willing to give, she falters.

What do you do when something that you’ve known to be so wrong in the past feels so damn right?

If you’re Mac, you run and hide.

But is Daniel the type of man who takes no for an answer?

My Thoguhts

Makenna 'Mac' Lewis has been in love - once. It ended badly. Upon returning home after leaving her abusive boyfriend she makes herself a vow - no commitment. But she does have 'friends with benefits'. Three of them! They all know about each other and are happy with their no strings attached arrangement with Mac.

Noah, aka The Walking Dildo, is a doctor that works at the same hospital as Mac. They have passionate hookups in free on call rooms at the hospital whenever the need arises.

Sean, aka Mr Dom, is older than Mac and travels for work. He fulfils the submissive urges in Mac whenever he is in town and she feels the need to be dominated.

Zander is a slightly younger, sexy as hell erotic dancer. Their encounters tend to be a little more 'public'.

While taking the train home from work one night, Makenna drops her phone and it slides down the carriage. An extremely handsome man returns it to her.

Daniel Winters, aka Delicious Daniel, was that man. After talking/flirting on the train, they agree to go on a date. The problem with that is Mac doesn't 'date'.

After accepting her best friend Kate's '3 date rule' challenge, Mac finds herself liking Daniel more and more each time they see each other. After finally sleeping with him, she knows that there is something more between them than a 'friends with benefits' arrangement. Daniel could possibly be the one that finally gets Makenna to break her vow to herself.

Temporary Bliss was AMAZING! It grabbed my attention right from the start and held it the whole way through. I loved the style of writing, especially Makenna's inner monologue. It was believable, and the characters were developed in a way that has you connecting instantly with each one as they are introduced. The sex scenes were extremely descriptive and explicitly hot, but very tastefully written. I loved the upbeat feel of Temporary Bliss. It was a welcomed shift in emotions after a previous 'dark' read.

As her genre debut into romance/erotica, B.J. Harvey aced it - with flying colours! I can't wait to read the next instalment in the Bliss series.

I received an ARC in exchange for an honest review.
