My Thoughts
I don't know where to begin! Tears of Tess by Pepper Winters is AMAZING! It has all the right ingredients making it an unputdownable, unforgettable read:
1 cup of dark
1 cup of twisted
1 cup of angst
1 box of sex
and
1 pinch of hope
To use Pepper's words:
This book has sex. Lots of it. It dances with grief, slavery and has a whole bunch of mind-fuckery.
Tess Snow has a loving boyfriend - Brax. They are content. For Tess, their relationship is safe. But Tess has fantasies - dark sexual fantasies. Fantasies that she knows deep down that Brax cannot fulfill.
On a trip to Cancun, Mexico Tess plans to encourage Brax to be a little more adventurous in bed. They agree on spending a day doing what Brax wants and a day doing what Tess wants.
Out sightseeing on scooters (Brax's choice of activity for the day) they stop at a small cafe to get a drink. Tess feels very uneasy.
My blood rocketed with adrenaline and my eyes darted around the cafe, looking for danger. Instincts told me I was in peril. I just didn't know from what.
And boy was she right! When Brax leaves her alone to go to the bathroom, three guys appear out of nowhere and all hell breaks loose. After a slight glimpse of Brax laying bleeding on the bathroom floor, She is captured.
The weeks following were torturous. Tess went through hell. And then, she had a bag put over her head, was put in a plane's cargo hold and delivered to her Master - Q.
He was not my master. No one was.
Q is raw power. He has money, good looks and used to getting what he wants. He is very influential within his community.
Tess refuses to obey and submit to him, but as time goes on her feelings towards her master begin to change. Her body starts to respond to his demands.
I hadn't gone Stockholmy - I hated him, knew what he did was wrong, but my body, shit, my body didn't care.
Two things I wanted most in the world: for Q to die a miserable death, and for him to fuck me.
Tears of Tess follows Tess' journey as she is held in captivity. As readers, we too are held captive and shackled to the story from beginning to end.
Pepper Winters' writing is amazing. It captured me at the beginning. Held my heart and mind the whole way through, and even shattered me in places along the way. I was Pepper's captive for the journey of the book - and what a journey it was! I loved every minute of the emotional ride I was taken on, earning Tears of Tess a well deserved place among my favourite books!
